Billiards

Did you know that billiards had evolved from a popular lawn game called croquet back in the 15th century? The game is assumed to have originated in France.  After moving indoors, the game was played on wooden tables covered by a green cloth resembling the lawn, the way it is still played now. The wooden cues used to strike balls were called “maces”, meaning sticks. The term billiards is derived from the French word “bille”, meaning ball.
