History

The first stone building could be seen in 1871. Three years later it was swept away in an avalanche but in 1878, in support of Stary and Novy Smokovec, the new wooden provisional building near Velicke pleso was build. In 1892 Karpatian association began to build alpine house that was brought into the open three years later. It contained ten rooms with twenty-two beds and two large rooms with thirty beds in each one. The house was opened from half of June until half of October. In 1957-1960 the house was widened and rebuild into the bigger comfortable house that in 1962 burned to the ground. Today's chalet "Sliezsky dom", newly built in 1971 and placed in beautiful mountainous surroundings offers everything which our guests and visitors need for their well-being.

On 1st June 2001 the chalet "Sliezsky dom" was taken over by SDG company.
